Once again the lovely people at Epomaker have sent me one of their brand new keyboards. This time it’s a DIY kit with a friendly feline twist: it’s the Mini Cat 64 kit.

The Mini Cat 64 kit is a 60%/64 key Acrylic keyboard base with RGB backlights. It’s a hot-swappable board, accepting all your favourite two and five-pin switches.

I chose to add Gateron Browns to mine.

Epomaker were also kind enough to send me a set of their Kitty Keycaps to complete the look, which don’t just look good but feel great to type on.

The Mini Cat 64 connects via standard USB-C (and comes with a white cable, just in case you haven’t already got a million laying around like I have).

The stacked, semi-transparent acrylic base board means that the RGB backlights really shine through, giving you the full “typing on a rainbow kitten” experience that you might well not have known you needed until now.

Yes, it’s a fun, cute, funny keyboard, but the Mini Cat 64 is also a genuinely nice bit of kit.

As I’ve said here many times, the two keyboards I come back to time and time again are the Durgod Fusion and the Epomaker B21, both of which are 68 key boards. A 64 key board feels about right to me, although I do always feel the lack of a Del key.

The Mini Cat 64 kit is a simple, straightforward build resulting in a keyboard that is cute and fun, but also very functional and useful. Paired with the Kitty Keycaps set, it’s the perfect addition to any desk or workspace desperately in need of an injection of pastel rainbow kitty aesthetic.

The Mini Cat 64 kit is available now for $74.99 USD.

The Epomaker Kitty Keycaps set is available now for $29.99 USD.
