Thought Bubble Leeds this weekend

Posted By John Reppion on November 14th, 2011

Thought Bubble Comic Con takes place in Leeds this coming weekend and we’re really looking forward to it.

We’ve got ourselves a table in Saville’s Hall (number 37) where we’ll be signing and handing out Thrill Electric goodies. We’ll also, hopefully, have some books to sell too… we’ll keep you posted on that Yes we’ll have copies of The Trial of Sherlock Holmes, The Complete Alice in Wonderland, Raise the Dead and The Complete Dracula on sale Sat & Sun.

On Sunday we’ll also be taking part in this panel:

COMICS 2.0 – THE FUTURE OF COMICS

15:00 – 15:45, Alea Cinema Room 18+

Comics as a medium are changing on a near daily basis – what does the future hold? Discussion with Leah Moore, John Reppion, Paul Duffield, Kate Brown, and Emma Vieceli on the increasing prevalence of digital processes in modern comics, the new and upcoming technologies, and how comics as an industry is changing.

If you can get to Leeds for any or all of the con then you should definitley do so; Thought Bubble is always awesome.

The Thought Bubble Festival is the UK's largest four day annual event which celebrates sequential art in all its forms, including everything from superheroes to independent small press. We are a non profit making organisation dedicated to promoting comics and graphic novels as an important cultural art form. Taking place at a variety of venues across the city, our aim is to cater to both long-time comic book fans and those who have never picked up a graphic novel before! Thought Bubble will take place 18th - 21st November 2009 with a centre-piece one day convention on Saturday 20th.

Thought Bubble will include art and writing based workshops for young people and adults, panels and talks lead by industry professionals and a programme of sequential art related film screenings. The special one day convention includes an incredible line up of leading artists and writers, and over 200 tables selling comics and merchandise. The day will also feature portfolio viewings and competitions. This promises to be one of the best events of its kind in the UK, where you’ll be able to meet some of your favourite comic book creators and browse the huge selection of memorabilia on sale - brought to you by the biggest and best exhibitors and dealers from across the country.

Thought Bubble 2010 this weekend

Posted By John Reppion on November 14th, 2010

Thought Bubble – the fantastic one day comic convention held annually in Leeds – is happening this Saturday.

The legendary Bryan Talbot will be launching his new book Grandville Mon Amour (the follow up to 2009′s steampunk badger cop masterpiece Grandville), the likes of  John “Kick Ass” Romita Jr., Adi “Iron Man” Granov, Paul “Action Comics” Cornell, Leigh “Defoe” Gallagher, Emma “Manga Shakespeare” Vieceli, Ian “Sherlock Holmes” Culbard, and lots, lots, lots more will be signing, sketching, selling and giving talks, workshops and (again) lots more.

We will also be there signing and (hopefully) selling copies of The Complete Dracula, The Trial of Sherlock Holmes, The Complete Alice in Wonderland and anything else of ours we can lay our hands on in time (if any nice, kind hearted, retailers attending the event would be willing to flog us some books on the day at trade price that would be very handy and very much appreciated – please do shoot us an email if you can help we now have loads of books thanks to the lovely peeps at Travelling Man – bring money!!!).

This will be our only con appearance this year so, if you’ve got any Moore & Reppion bits and bobs you’d like us to sign, then Thought Bubble is the place to catch us.

Sadly, we won’t be hanging round for the after-party so we’ll be running round and round all day trying to catch up with as many people as possible and grab as many comics as we can. We will, however, do our very best to keep our twitter feeds updated throughout the day so, if we’re not sat behind our table, you should be able to find out exactly where we are by checking http://twitter.com/leahmoore and (probably to a significantly lesser extent due to my phone being crap) http://twitter.com/johnreppion

Thought Bubble is always a brilliant day – probably our favourite convention, actually – and we’re looking forward to seeing you there.
